Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana has said that to celebrate the 50 years in marriage could only be the work of Almighty God, declaring that he is a fulfilled man.
Gana, who spoke at the Golden Wedding Anniversary Thanksgiving ceremony organized to commemorate the milestone, said: “It is all about thanksgiving to God for being married for such a long time and remaining fulfilled.”
Joined on the special day by his children, other family members, friends and well wishers at the event which started with Thanksgiving Service at the Anglican Church Maitama, reminiscenced on how they started the holy matrimony, stating that he is full of smiles and happiness to have married the right woman.
Speaking of his wife, Lucy, the former Minister said she had stood with him in rough and sweet times.
“She is so patient, gentle, and kind, so forgiving, so nice. She is the best wife in the world. She has the quality of being a true wife and mother. She is very caring, thoughtful and gentle. If she had not been forgiving me, this marriage would have been ruined long ago,” he said.
Gana was full of praises for the wife saying: “Apart from being a good mother, she is also a prayer warrior. She stood by me and prayed for me while in office so that I will not make any mistakes but succeed.”
Gana’s workers and associates, who attended the event, also attested to her love and character, describing Mrs Gana as a good wife and mother.
According to them, her kitchen is always open to all and sundry, that one cannot visit Gana without being taken care of by the wife with a good meal.
Speaking of the couple, former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, said: “They have shown a tremendous belief in each other for us all to learn and emulate.”
President of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, who spoke to journalists at the event, described their marriage as successful and blessed with God fearing children.
He said one of the factors that stand the test of time in marriage is for couples to marry their friends.
Speaking on their lives that is rooted in Jesus Christ overflowing with thankfulness, the officiating Minister, Reverend Olusola Adekaja described Jerry Gana and wife as a couple with enviable Christian home that’s worthy of emulation.
Giving an insight into the place of God in their marriage, Reverend Adekaja said the couple are very spiritual and have a strong spiritual relationship firmly rooted in Christ.
“They have total commitment to the word of God. And they are always seen everywhere together,” he added.
