The Igbo Ambassadors UK on Saturday night marked its End-of-Year Celebrations involving the Patron Investiture Ceremony and the official launch of ”Southeast The Good News” Economic Blueprint.

The group also honoured some deserving citizens, with Valentine Ozigbo, Labour Party chieftain and frontline Governorship hopeful in Anambra State in the November 8, 2025 Governorship election receiving an award as a ‘Beacon of Hope.’

The National leader of Labour Party (LP) and Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, was also honoured with award as Political Icon.

The group also conferred patronship on top businessmen and socialites – Obinna Tochuukwu Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana) and Chief Kenneth Ifekudu (Agbalanze Onyekachukwu).

Ozigbo, who also chaired the end-of-the-year celebrations, noted that the awards highlighted the organisation’s commitment to recognising excellence across both the political and business spheres.

According to the former President of Transcorp Plc, “this gathering of young, forward-thinking professionals exemplified how the diaspora community can mobilise resources and expertise for homeland development. The Southeast The Good News Economic Blueprint represents our collective aspiration for systematic, sustainable growth through diaspora engagement.

“This group of young people who came together to explore ways to help one another with Ofu Obi Ifunanya (Unity/Love) as their Motto, are also working to impact positively, planning to use ‘Southeast Economic Blueprint Diaspora Fund to coalesce investments in certain sectors in conjunction with a purposeful and a willing government. I am delighted that they have already identified me as a leader and partner of the organisation and its programmes.”

Addressing the occasion, the President of Igbo Ambassadors UK, Amb. Ugochukwu Onyibor Morah, said the group’s focus of being a beacon of excellence and unity, “has been a journey defined by growth, resilience, and a shared vision of uplifting our community both here in the UK and back home.

“Through our collective efforts, we have achieved remarkable milestones. From organizing annual family picnic events and mentorship programs to facilitating investment opportunities and supporting local businesses, our work has made a difference in the lives of many. Our commitment to impactful community works has also fostered stronger bonds within our diaspora and reinforced our connection to our heritage.

“Today, as we launch, Southeast The Good News Economic Blueprint, we take yet another bold step forward. This initiative symbolizes our commitment to the economic empowerment and sustainable development of the Southeast. It is our pledge to contribute to a future where the Igbo community thrives on a foundation of opportunity, self-reliance, and prosperity. I am confident that with your continued support, this blueprint will become a catalyst for positive change and progress.

“As we celebrate, let us also reaffirm our shared values, our resilience, and our dedication to a brighter future for our community. I am grateful to each one of you for believing in me and in our shared mission. Together, we have accomplished much, and together, we will continue to achieve even greater heights.”
