Man, 60, Charged With Murder After Body Of Woman Missing For 10-days Found At Home

A 60-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was found during the search for a missing woman.

Mariann Borocz vanished after she was last seen on Chorley Old Road, in Bolton, Greater Manchester, at about 9:30am on December 14. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) found her body inside her home on December 23.

Christopher Barlow, 60, of Pedder Street, Bolton, has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. He is set to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court today 26 December after being charged with Mariann’s murder.

“Our condolences remain with Mariann’s family as they try to come to terms with her death,” Detective Chief Inspector Tonny Platten said. “Our investigation is moving at pace, and we are continuing to work hard to build a full timeline of events leading up to Mariann’s death.

“I’d also like to thank those who have spoken to us already and helped initially in sharing our appeals around Bolton.”

A GMP spokesperson said: “Extensive searches alongside several appeals to the local community were conducted in efforts to find Mariann. Mariann’s family are continuing to be supported by family liaison officers at this incredibly distressing time.”
