The family of Ross Ogbeinde, an international student in the United Kingdom (UK), who reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness before passing away on December 29, 2024 grieving over the loss. And they are also seeking financial support to help cover the cost of his burial in the UK.
According to a note from Benedicta, the deceased’s wife, on GoFundMe, Ogbeinde was set to graduate from the University of South Wales in January 2025. However, he suddenly collapsed and passed away last week before an ambulance could arrive.
The late Ogbeinde was originally from Benin City, in Edo State and was an international student at the University of South Wales and resided in Pontypridd, South Wales, UK, with his wife and three children. His three children just joined the family last month.
The note on GoFundMe by the wife stated that the funds would be used “to begin burial arrangements and assist the family with settling expenses,” adding that the “young widow will need your support to care for the children and meet their immediate needs.”
However, the GoFundMe campaign set up by the deceased’s wife on Sunday has already got responses from good-spirited people as £370 had been raised from donors. It has a target of £20,000.
The post on GoFundMe reads: “Ross died suddenly on the 29th December 2024. He had no prior sickness. He slumped and died before an ambulance could arrive . He was an international student at the University of South Wales and lived at Pontypridd South Wales, UK and was due to graduate in Jan 2025.
“Mr Ross Ogbeide is from Benin, Nigeria and the first son of his parents. He took care of his parents, siblings and immediate family.
“He only just brought his kids to the UK last month.
“His Young Widow is left with 3 young kids to look after.
“We humbly ask for support to enable his family start his burial arrangements and help the family settle.
“His young widow would need your support to be able to take care of the kids and meet their immediate needs.

In recent times, there have been reported cases of some Nigerians in the UK dying suddenly. PUNCH Metro reported on January 3, 2024, that Chinonso Ezeonwumere, an MSc Management student at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, also died under similar circumstances while waiting to resume work on October 7, 2024.
