Police Arrest Domestic Staff Over Singer Davido’s Son Death In Swimming Pool Drowning, Family Keeps Mum

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that all members of David Adeleke (aka Davido) domestic staff are currently in police custody following the death of his son, Ifeanyi, on Monday.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed on Tuesday morning after report of Ifeanyi’s death went viral.

The DMW boss and his fiance, Chioma Rowland were away from the house when the boy drowned in a pool at his father’s house in Banana Island on Monday.

The Lagos State Police Spokesperson said preliminary investigation is currently ongoing to unravel what led to the boy’s death.

According to Huundeyin: “Domestic staff at Davido’a home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet.

“If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest.”

Meanwhile, the news of Ifeanyi’s reported death have left Nigerians, particularly entertainment lovers, traumatized.

A number of celebrities have posted cryptic messages that appear to confirm the death of Ifeanyi. Some of which are comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, radio personality, Daddy Freeze, Williams Uchemba, close pal Eniola Badmus, reality star Dorathy Bachor, among others.

Actor, Daniel K. Daniel posted on Instagram: “Damn!! This is heartbreaking No one should ever bury their child. This hit hard. God help them please. ”

Williams Uchemba, while confirming the incident, wrote: “I said I won’t believe anything on SM until I personally confirm myself. I prayed for it to be a lie. I am upset, pained and confused. Nobody deserves to feel this pain.

He continued: “Please say a prayer for David, Chioma and the entire family. Nobody deserves this kind of pain. Rest up little one. ”

Ayo Makun, in an Instagram post early Tuesday, also wrote: “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad.”

Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning said: “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight.”

Comedian Lasisi Elenu also posted: “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”

Reality TV star and actress, Rosemary Afuwape, wrote on her Instagram story: “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your hearts. I am truly sorry for your loss.”

As of 1.28am, news of Ifeanyi’s rumored death was the most trending topic on Twitter.

Nigerians have, however, refused to come to terms with the reported demise of the youngster as no official statement had yet to be released by the family.

They, instead, lashed out at Actress, Eniola Badmus, over her post on Monday night since the family involved had not issued any statement over the incident.

A tweep, @baddiekimmyk said: “Lowkey, fuck Eniola Badmus. Rumor or not, that is NOT your news to share. You don’t sensationalize sensitive news like that especially from a person you’re close with. You don’t do that!

“And fuck the blogs too! No conduct or code of ethics. Spreading unconfirmed information like that just because you want to be the first to do breaking news.

“These are real people with a real situation at hand. Fuck you for being so nasty and acting without empathy.

“And please don’t insult my intelligence by saying “she didn’t say anything” tho. We’re all well aware of her post and what it implied.

“Again, it’s not her news to share. Rumor or not!”

@etubolion also tweeted: “Is it true Eniola Badmus posted it? And if she did, why would she do that when the family is yet to confirm the news?”

While expressing disbelief over the reports, @usman_haruna said: “Fake News is too disastrous… So, Eniola Badmus deleted screenshot was what caused the Davido son – Ifeanyi rumour..

“As long as there’s no official statement, you should be careful to believe anything people put out there on social media.

“Fake News is cancerous !!”

In the same vein, @mzlizzybet tweeted: “Eniola Badmus posted a broken heart emoji, she did not include anyone’s name. Why are y’all linking it to davido’s son???”

@Lexybile also weighed in, stating: “Ifeanyi is perfectly fine! Na Eniola Badmus carry loud wey pass her power Davido”

@Nkemchor also blamed the actress for posting a heartbreak emoji.

She said: “It was wrong for Eniola Badmus to do what she did though. Whether the incident about Ifeanyi is true or not. You heard some news and quickly rushed to post a heartbreak emoji now there’s panic everywhere? She is not even in the right place to do this. Close friend or not. Na wa ooo”
