US envoy Steve Witkoff says negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine are down to just one issue.
Speaking in Davos before he heads to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin (see our previous post for more on that), Witkoff says a lot of progress had been made and “we’re at the end now”.
He adds: “We are going to get it done.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump believes Russia and Ukraine are “reasonably close” to a peace deal.
Speaking in Davos on Wednesday, the U.S. president said: “I think I can say that we’re reasonably close. We have to get it stopped… I believe they’re at a point now where they can come together and get a deal done. And if they don’t, they’re stupid.”
He is set to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Davos on Thursday.
