The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), led by the Executive Director of Transmission Service Provider (TSP), Engr. Dr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction work at the Abuja Independent Power Plant Project Phase One in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The 350MW power plant is being constructed by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC Ltd) and is to be powered by gas from the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline.
According to a statement by TCN, “the visit to the plant site was aimed at assessing the project’s progress, obtaining first-hand information on its generating capacity, commissioning timeline, and evacuation requirements for integration into the national grid.
“The engagement provided an opportunity for technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor, reinforcing coordination ahead of the December 2026 commissioning.
“The power plant being constructed by NNPC, which will be powered by gas from the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, which is expected to deliver 350MW under Phase One of the project.”
