Abuja-Kaduna Train Bombing: Northern Nigeria Under Siege – Arewa Consultative Forum

  • Says it is tired of crying out over insecurity

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed shock over Monday’s Monday night terrorists’ bombing, killing and abduction of passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna train, lamenting that Norther Nigeria “is under siege.”

It described the train bombing and the frequent attacks on the region’s towns and villages as unacceptable.

The ACF noted that as the custodian of the welfare and integrity of the North, it was tired of crying out on the issue of security and other challenges bedevilling the region.

The forum said in a statement by its Secretary-General, Malam Murtala Aliyu, called on the federal and state governments to as a matter of urgency review their security architecture with a view to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

The forum lamented that banditry and terrorism had excised the North and the major economic activities of North East, North West with a new ploy to block Kaduna which it described as the main gateway to the North.

It called on the government to put 24-hour surveillance on Kaduna-Abuja Highway as a way of preventing further attacks.

The forum prevailed on AZMAN and Air Peace airlines to have a rethink over their resolve to suspend flights to Kaduna International Airport, saying such action would contribute negatively to the problems.

It called on northerners to remain positive and law-abiding and not relent in their resilience and hope towards making lives better.
