As of 8.30am Nigerian time on Sunday, the total number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases worldwide was 2,332,653, with 160,791 deaths and 600,148 recovered and discharged cases.
The figures, from the Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, covered a total of 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances.
Europe leads with the highest number of deaths among the continents with 99,874 out of 1,060,144. It has registered a total of 301,299 recovered cases.
While Spain leads Europe with the total number of cases at 194,416 and 20,639 deaths, Italy has the highest number of deaths, 23,227, out of a total confirmed cases of 175,925.
France is third with 151,793 cases, 19,323 deaths and 35,983 recovered cases. The United Kingdom comes next in the number of deaths with 15,464 out of confirmed cases of 114,217.
North America has a total of 792,270 confirmed cases, 41,646 deaths and a total of 83,378 recovered and discharged patients.
Of this numbers, the United States of America (USA) still keeps its record as the epicentre of the COVID-19 epidemic with a total of 739,054 cases, 39,016 deaths and a total of 68,285 recovered and discharged cases.
Canada is next with the comparatively low numbers of 33,383 cases, 1,470 deaths and 11,207 discharged deaths.
For Africa, it still leads the pack among the continents with a total of 21,741 cases, 1,082 deaths and 5,470 recovered and discharged cases.
In Africa, South Africa leads with 3,032 cases, 52 deaths and 903 recovered cases while Egypt is next with a total number of deaths at 224 out of 3,032 cases and 701 recovered. This is followed with Morocco with a total of 2,685 cases, 137 deaths and 314 recovered.
But Algeria, with a total of 2,534 confirmed cases, has the highest death toll of 367 in the continent. It has 894 recovered and discharged cases.
Nigeria maintains its 12th position on the table with a total of 542 cases, 19 deaths and 166 recovered and discharged cases.
