COVID-19: Nigeria’s infections rate continues upward swing with 542 cases

Nigeria’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) statistics continues on the high side with a 49 new cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 542.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on its Twitter handle on Saturday night that the number of fatalities recorded from COVID-19 pandemic had risen to 19, from the Friday figure of 17. A total of 166 patients has been discharged.

According NCDC Tweet” “Forty-nine new cases of #COVID19 have been reported; 23 in Lagos, 12 in FCT (Federal Capital Territory), 10 in Kano, 2 in Ogun, 1 in Oyo, 1 in Ekiti. As at 10:40 pm 18th April there are 542 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 166 discharged and 19 Deaths.

“As at 10:40 pm 18th April, number of States with confirmed cases of #COVID19 is 19 plus FCT. For a breakdown of cases by States, currently, Lagos – 306, FCT – 81, Kano – 37, Osun – 20, Oyo – 16, Edo – 15, Ogun – 12, Kwara – 9, Katsina – 9, Bauchi – 6, Kaduna – 6, Akwa Ibom – 6, Delta – 4, Ekiti – 4, Ondo – 3, Enugu – 2, Rivers -2, Niger – 2, Benue – 1 and Anambra- 1.”
