Super Falcons Stage Dramatic Comeback To Beat Morocco, Claims 10th WAFCON Title

The Super Falcons rallied to beat Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2 in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

It was Nigeria’s 10th  WAFCON title which extended their reign as Africa’s best team.

Morocco stunned Nigeria with the opening goal after 12 minutes scored by Ghizlane Chebbak.

Sanna Mssoudy doubled the hosts advantage 12 minutes later.

The Super Falcons fought back in the second half.

Esther Okoronkwo reduced the deficit for Nigeria from the penalty spot in the 64th minute.

Nigeria levelled through Folashade Ijamilusi seven minutes later.

Substitute Jennifer Echegini netted the winning goal in added time.

in the run up to finals played at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, Nigeria beat defending champions South Africa 2-1 in the semifinals.

Morocco overcame Ghana in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time in their last-four clash.

Ghana beat South Africa on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the bronze-medal match on Friday.
