7-year-old Girl’s 2 Eyes Forcefully Removed By 17-year-old Elder Brother, Others For Money Rituals

A 7-year old girl, Rukayya Muhammad, of Bayan Dutse, Wailo, Kubi Ward of Ganjuwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State will never see light again in her life as her elder brother, 17-year old Auwal Dahiru, has allegedly conspired with five others to lured her to the bush where her two eyes were forcefully removed for suspected ritual purposes. 

His accomplices who have been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command are Mohammed Rabiu aged 19 years; Saleh Ibrahim aged 20 years; Nasiru Muhammad of Soro town Ganjuwa LGA; Hassan Garba of Soro town, Ganjuwa LGA; and Garba Dahiru aged 43yrd of Soro town.

The Police Command Spokesperson, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, in a statement to journalists in Bauchi on Monday stated: “On 17th October 2025, at about 1800hrs, one Muhammad Adamu of Bayan Dutse Village, Wailo, Kubi Ward, Ganjuwa LGA, Bauchi State, reported at the Soro Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date at about 2000hrs, his daughter, Rukayya Muhammad aged 7 years, was attacked with the intention of killing her and attempted to pluck out her eyes.”

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by CSP Aliyu Mohammad Goni, Divisional Police officer (DPO), Soro Division,  immediately dispatched to the scene, where the suspect was arrested. At the same time, the victim was quickly evacuated to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical treatment.

“A preliminary investigation’s findings exposed that the 7-year-old girl, Rukayya Muhammad, tragically lost her eyesight permanently after her elder brother, Auwalu Muhammad, removed both of her eyes for a money ritual in a desperate attempt to gain wealth.

“The victim’s father was interviewed, and disclosed that the suspect (Auwalu) lured his sister, who shared the same parents, into the bush, where he brutally attacked her and forcefully plucked her eyes.

“Unfortunately, a Medical Doctor (Eye specialist) at the ATBUTH has confirmed that the young girl will never regain her vision for the rest of her life.

“During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime as investigation is ongoing to uncover the motive behind their heinous act and to bring all individuals connected to justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for a discreet, professional, and diligent investigation.”
