The Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation (HIAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has declared the Enugu State Governor, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as winner of its maiden Best South-East Governor of the Year 2025 Award.
Nze Sam Nwanze, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Editor-in-Chief of Igbo Book of Records, said a 7-man Selection Committee set up by its Board of Directors headed by a well-known clergyman, Archbishop Emeritus of the Anglican Communion, Enugu, Dr. Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma, adjudged Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as the best performing Governor among his brother-Governors of the South East States.
The Selection Committee noted that Governor Mbah emerged tops in several sectors particularly education, healthcare, transportation (land and air), provision of road infrastructure in urban and rural areas, and security.
Nwanze, in a statement by Mike Ubani, the Executive Director of the Foundation and Executive Editor of the Igbo Book of Records, the Selection Committee noted with admiration and profound satisfaction, Governor Mbah’s prioritisation of the education sector as a foundation and fulcrum of his “Tomorrow is Here” development agenda, particularly through consistent increase in the budgetary allocation leading to the construction of Smart Green Schools in each of the 260 electoral wards in the State.
In his personally signed acknowledgment letter, Governor Mbah thanked Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation for “a prestigious recognition which I accept with humility and a strong sense of responsibility.
“This honour goes beyond me as an individual, it belongs to my entire team working tirelessly to reposition our State for sustainable growth and development……..”
Mr. Nwanze announced that Governor Mbah will be conferred with the prestigious award at a ceremony scheduled to hold on Thursday, April 16, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, by 12 noon.
The event will also feature the conferment of the first edition of the organisation’s “Great Igbo Achievers With Integrity and Excellence Awards,” to 21 distinguished Igbo sons and daughters, which include Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asadu; Professor Ume Okafor, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Enugu State Teaching Hospital, Nsukka; and the public presentation of the second edition of Igbo Book of Records, and the Igbo Digest Newspaper.
Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation, was deliberately conceived as a veritable vehicle to promote Igbo heritage and culture, as well as identify and honour Igbo sons and daughters, who by dint of hard work, achieved good success in their various fields of endeavour.
