Leading Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, has issued a “final two-hour ultimatum” to Fulani residents in Igboho Oke-Ogun, Oyo State to produce abducted family members or face consequences, as he threatened to wipe off all Fulani people living in the community.
He issued this ultimatum at the palace of the traditional ruler of Igboho where community leaders, palace chiefs, and representatives of the Fulani community were present to discuss the recent security challenges confronting the town
In a video circulating online, Igboho lambasted the Fulani leaders over their alleged involvement in criminal activities while issuing a warning to them to desist from kidnapping residents of his community.
“I will enter your household and kill everybody. You can’t be kidnapping people in my hometown. I am Sunday Igboho, and I am from this hometown… I bear the name of this town. We cannot continue to tolerate kidnapping and the killing of innocent people in our land,” he said during the meeting.
Igboho maintained that the people of Igboho are peace-loving and have always welcomed visitors who respect the law, but warned that criminal activities would no longer be tolerated.
“We desire peaceful coexistence with everyone, but those who have chosen the path of violence and criminality must leave our land. Enough is enough,” he declared.
He had alleged that the kidnappers abducted a heavily pregnant woman and even held the person who took ransom to them.
According to him, the community is ready to sacrifice the lives of the kidnapped victims, but warned that the Fulani leaders would be evicted from the community if that happens.
Igboho further warned the DPO of the community to be careful in how he handles the security affairs of the community.
He also called on the Fulani leaders to look for the ransom that is being asked by the kidnappers, stressing that the residents would not budge to the demands of the assailants, who started by asking for N300 million before beating it down to N150 million.
However, the midday deadline passed without reported release of any abducted victim, violence, or police comment.
