Iran To Stay Away From Talks Until U.S. Position Changes As Mojtaba Khamenei Pledges Revenge For Father And Predecessor

Iran has not requested the US to resume negotiations and does not intend to enter into them until Washington changes its position, the Fars agency reported, citing a source.

According to its information, the resumption of negotiations in the near future is unlikely.

On July 10, Trump stated that the US, at Iran’s request, had agreed to continue negotiations on resolving the conflict, but the ceasefire regime had ended.

This is just as Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said on Saturday that avenging his slain predecessor and father was “the demand of the nation” and “must certainly” take place, according to a written message released on his Telegram account.

Khamenei issued the message on the occasion of funeral ceremonies for his father, Ali Khamenei, held months after he was killed in the US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28.

“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” Khamenei said in the message.
