Nasarawa State University Lauds DSS For Rescuing Kidnapped Professor, Arrest Of 2 Suspects

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has applauded the Department of State Services (DSS) for rescuing its Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Samuel Okunsebor.

Professor Okunsebor, who was kidnapped by armed men at about midnight on Wednesday July 15, 2026 at Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State, was rescued by DSS operatives at about 3pm on Friday.

Sources confirmed that after the rescue, the DSS formally handed over the don to his family members.

Present at the brief ceremony was the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Kitso Ngbargu.

He was thereafter driven to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical examination.

A top official of the university said the institution was “greatly indebted to the DSS for working round the clock to ensure the timely rescue of our amiable Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.”

He added: “we understand that the DSS have in their custody two of the persons, a man and a lady, behind the kidnap of our dear Professor. Given how the DSS has been meticulously prosecuting suspects in courts, we have little doubt that both suspects will soon have their day in court.”
